STEM and Artificial Intelligence – Theme: Sustainable Agriculture

Within the scope of Erasmus + K220 project activities carried out by Bursa Provincial Directorate of National Education, the ‘STEM and ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE – THEME: SUSTAINABLE AGRICULTURE’ activity programme was held at Bursa Innovation Centre on 11-12 November 2024 with the participation of 88 teachers from different branches in order to inform teachers about STEM, artificial intelligence tools in education and sustainable agriculture and to increase their competencies in these fields and to enable them to design innovative and practical STEM activities for their students.

On the first day of the programme, the project introduction and information presentation was made by Hüseyin ŞAHİN, R&D Unit staff and project coordinator. Afterwards, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ömer UYSAL (Bursa Uludağ University Faculty of Education, Faculty of Education, Faculty of Computer and Instructional Technology) presented ‘Artificial Intelligence Basics and Its Use in STEM Activities’ and Seçil GÖKÇE (Information Technologies Teacher) presented ‘Artificial Intelligence Tools Application Workshop in Education’.

On the second day, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sevinç BAŞAY (Bursa Uludağ University Faculty of Agriculture) presented ‘Principles of Sustainable Agriculture’ and Selahattin YILMAZ (Agricultural Engineer – Bursa Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry) presented ‘Smart Agriculture’. After the trainings, participating teachers developed STEM activity plans at primary and secondary school level in teams and made presentations. The highest scoring STEM activity plan was determined by the evaluation of the jury members (Prof. Dr. Adem UZUN, Assoc. Dr. Mehmet DEMİRBAĞ, Assoc. Dr. Ömer UYSAL, Assoc. Dr. Taliha KELEŞ, Selahattin YILMAZ and Ümmühan ÖZEN).

The programme ended with the presentation of gifts to the administrators of our schools that were entitled to ‘Soilless Agriculture Tower’ among our 10 schools that carry out agricultural activities with their students as of September and to our teachers who ranked in the STEM activity plan by Mustafa DANIŞMAN, our provincial national education branch director, and a collective photo shoot.
