STEMS Stars Challenge competition event
Organised by Bursa Provincial Directorate of National Education within the scope of Erasmus+ K220-SCH Green Agriculture Entrepreneurs of the Future Project, the ‘STEM Stars Challenge’ competition event was held with great excitement on 24-26 December 2024 at Bursa Innovation Centre. The event brought together 160 teams from primary, secondary and high school levels and 480 students in total, enabling them to develop sustainable rain harvesting systems.
This event, which was organised to draw attention to the increasing problems of water scarcity and climate change in recent years, offered students the opportunity to produce creative solutions. The participants developed solutions for domestic and agricultural needs by designing economical, environmentally friendly and feasible rainwater harvesting systems with the given materials and within a certain period of time. The main focus of the projects was to prevent water waste and reuse rainwater.
This activity allowed young people to develop their creativity and problem-solving skills using STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) disciplines, while also highlighting important skills such as teamwork and entrepreneurship. Participants experienced the happiness of seeking solutions to real problems with scientific thinking.
At the end of the event, the top 20 teams in each stage were determined by the evaluations made by the jury members. These teams will come together again at Bursa Innovation Centre in the second term to produce solutions to new problems on different themes. The STEM Stars Challenge inspired students for a sustainable future.
